Bring your teen out for free pizza and some awesome discussion at Teen Talk! Registration is free (but required, so we know how many mouths to feed)!

Teen Talk events are gender-neutral group discussions for teens and pre-teens. Discussions are age-appropriate in an informal, “open chat” forum. Youth can air concerns and ask questions of adult facilitators in a safe, accepting and nonjudgmental environment. Our staff are Youth Mental Health First Aid certified facilitators, and our volunteers include licensed family and drug and alcohol counselors.

School board approves discipline policy

The Elk Grove school board on Nov. 13 approved a policy on what school administrators can do to address alleged student misconduct.

Several community members and activists worked with Elk Grove Unified School District officials and staff on drafting the policy.

Throughout this year, the activists stated that law enforcement officers were inappropriately used to handle student cases, particularly those involving African American students.

Unclothed black doll left hanging in Del Campo H.S. locker

Sacramento School District is investigating who left a black doll hanging in the girls locker room at Del Campo High School.

The girls who found the doll say they reported it to a vice principal but say it was left hanging in the locker room for at least two weeks.

The school district is trying to find out why school officials didn’t act more quickly.
